Public transit in San Francisco has made for a highly connected, very dense city. The grid street pattern has allowed for increased transit options, as it is easier to connect routes with this pattern. Certain parts of the city were later to receive public transit lines, as the technology was not advanced enough to navigate topographical barriers. However, today San Francisco has a comprehensive system that reaches most of the city.
